  • Autowriter description: The Porsche 911 Carrera Speedster, introduced in 1989 as a limited one-year production, is a remarkable blend of design and performance. It featured a frameless, steeply raked windshield that was 3.1 inches shorter than the standard Carrera’s, giving it a distinctive, aerodynamic profile. At the rear, a dual-hump fiberglass tonneau cover replaced the back seats, accompanied by roll-up side windows. For inclement weather, the car included a basic cloth top labeled “for emergency use only.”

Under the hood, the Speedster was powered by the H-program 3.2-liter air-cooled flat-six engine, delivering 231 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque. This power was channeled through a five-speed Getrag G50 transaxle. Braking performance was ensured by power-assisted, ventilated, and cross-drilled disc brakes with alloy calipers on all four corners. Turbo-look Speedsters came equipped with wider 7J and 9J 16-inch Fuchs forged alloy wheels and larger tires for enhanced handling. Beneath the fiberglass tonneau cover, the rear seats were replaced with a carpeted storage area, contributing to the Speedsters lightweight design. Overall, it shed about 150 pounds compared to the Cabriolet, thanks to the absence of the roof frame, electric windows, and other interior fittings.

Gaudin Classic and Gaudin Porsche of Las Vegas are proud to present this exquisite 1989 Porsche Carrera Speedster. Its exterior is finished in Linen Grey Metallic, a rare and elegant color that carried a $892 premium in 1989. The interior features a striking two-tone black and linen partial leather design, accentuated by black piping around the seats. This particular Speedster holds historical significance, as it was initially delivered to Porsche Cars North America’s corporate headquarters in Reno, NV, for the then-president of PCNA, Brian Bowler. With just under 36,000 miles on the odometer, the car has been fully serviced and includes a clean Carfax, making it a pristine example of Porsche’s iconic craftsmanship.
