  • Year: 1972
  • Model: 911E Carrera RSR-Tribute
  • Description: With its RS-style exterior and a reconditioned 2.7L flat-six engine coupled to a 5-speed manual transmission with 9:1 compression, this 1972 Porsche 911 is built for both street and track use. The engine upgrade, which began as a 911T, has 90mm Nikwasil cylinders with J&E pistons and 3-barrel 40mm PMO carburetors. Additionally, new timing chains and rails with 3.2 Carrera oil-pressure supplied tensioners are installed. All four sides have updated cross-drilled brake rotors and Bilstein shocks installed, and the front-mounted oil cooler is connected to stainless steel flexible oil lines. This vintage racer is legal for the street. The exterior is painted in yellow with Carrera graphics, widened with steel RS-style flares, and has a ducktail spoiler with Carrera RS writing. The vendor allegedly rebuilt or resurfaced metal work as part of his rust repair. A pillar, chassis plate, and front trunk body plate all have matching VIN stampings. The outside oil cap, unique to 1972, is kept in place, but European-style headlamps and a 2.7L grille badge are added. The auxiliary oil cooler is mounted in a detachable splitter on the front bumper. Eight and nine-inch 16-inch Fuchs wheels, four-corner Bilstein struts, and cross-drilled and vented rotors with ATE brake calipers are also included. Schroth Racing 5-point harnesses are used in conjunction with RS-style sport seats that include perforated inserts. The area has been refurbished with matching black carpet and the back seats have been removed.A detachable roll bar, a transponder, and a fire suppression system are among the additions. RennShift performance shifter and a 3-spoke Prototipo steering wheel with a Porsche crest horn button are installed.Electric clocks and graded gauges for oil pressure and temperature are part of the VDO equipment. The odometer indicates 96k miles; the total mileage is not known. There is extra chassis reinforcement and a racing fuel cell installed in the carpeted trunk. New main bearings and Pauter connecting rods were installed in the bottom end of the engine as part of the rebuild. The balanced rotating assembly is fastened with ARP head studs and connecting rods. The displacement of the flat-six was expanded to 2.7L with 90mm Nikwasil cylinders and J&E pistons. It is equipped with twin down-draft 3-barrel 40mm PMO carburetors. The valves were given a 3-angle competition valve job, and new camshafts with an altered 911E grind are matched with the valves. 930 exhaust valve covers, flexible stainless steel oil lines, and refinished tinware are examples of external improvements. A stage 2 clutch kit is coupled to a reconstructed 915/73 transaxle.Above, you can see a twin-outlet muffler and stainless steel heat exchangers. There are new rails and timing chains installed, along with 3.2 Carrera oil-pressure fed tensioners.
